I'm in the Army Reserves, and my assignment has me doing a lot of airline travel for my weekend duty. I've doing the travel with a Red Oxx Air Boss and a separate computer backpack.  I'm really looking to try to shift the travel to true one bag travel.
I have to travel in civilian clothes, and carry my uniform. I'm not allowed to wear any of my uniform items combined with my civilian clothes. I have to pack one pair of Army boots, one uniform, two sets of socks, underwear, and t-shirts, a pair of running shoes, running shorts and shirt, a second set of civilian casual clothes, toiletries, 13" laptop, Kindle, charging cables, headphones, water bottle, sunglasses, and a notebook.  Occasionally I have to pack a military fleece jacket as well. I also need to be able to carry the laptop, notebook, charging cables and water bottle from the hotel to my duty location, and to be able to access those things (plus the kindle and headphones) on the plane, so I need a small second bag.  I can physically fit everything on my list in side the Air Boss, but I cannot fit the second bag for the electronics, hence the separate backpack.
I'm thinking about the Thule Subterra 40L Carry-On or maybe a Skytrain or Goruck GR2 with a TB Daylight Backpack put in the front compartment and then removed for using on the plane and as my daybag when going to work.
