Post Bags/backpacks at museums and bars

I always travel with my favorite backpack. I take only one backpack. It's very strong and can be resized. Very convenient at the airport or train station. Depending on whether I'm traveling or sightseeing on the mountains, fill it with different things, often take my own food to save money. But there is one problem, not all locations are ready to let the person with a backpack;) It was a very funny story, when I went with a friend in Norway. We were going to spend 3 nights in the mountains, and our backpacks looked intimidating. In Oslo, we decided to go to the museum. We were let in, they took backpacks for storage, but we were definitely the most memorable visitors that day;) In St. Petersburg, it was more difficult. Not all museums were pleased. A storage room at the station is expensive, and we did not want to tie ourself to one place. The funniest story turned out, when we decided to pass the night at some bar. We chose a bar in the center, something like Zavistbar, and tried to pass. This place is bright, luxury, and - here we are with our backpacks! Well, you know, it was very difficult to prove that we are worthy customers. Barely passed. But suspicions were removed after a couple of privates and body shots;) And what about your travelling? Do leave bags in the storage room? Or risk to take with you?

Probably it's best to make a quick check (with fellow travelers) of whether it's safe to leave your bag, or take it with you. I guess it boils down to the place or location..
